Smith Scholarship Program: The J. Craig and Page T. Smith Scholarship Foundation (“Smith Scholarship Foundation”) is designed to fund college scholarships for deserving students throughout Alabama. Students with a minimum 2.0 GPA may apply. In addition to a completed application, the following documents are required: high school transcript, ACT score, three personal recommendations (teacher, counselor, volunteer organization), pages 1 and 2 of the previous year’s tax return, and evidence of completed FAFSA application. McWane Scholarship: Administered by The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham – Dependent sons and daughters of employees of the McWane family of companies (both hourly and salaried) are encouraged to apply for a scholarship. Ten $2,000 scholarships will be awarded. Awards are renewable for up to four years. Applicants must be a current senior with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Apply here. Deadline is February 14, 2019.
Lisa Martz Hope Scholarship: The Lisa Martz Hope Scholarship is available to assist students whose families have been impacted by colorectal cancer. To be considered for this scholarship, seniors must have been admitted into a two or four year institution, be a U. S. citizen and an Alabama resident, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and have been personally impacted by colorectal cancer. In addition to a completed application, students should submit two recommendation letters from a teacher, counselor, coach, minister, or employer. Students must also include a one-page essay describing how they have been personally impacted by colorectal cancer, and explaining how this scholarship would positively impact them and their family. Junior League of Birmingham Scholarship: Administered by The Junior League of Birmingham is a one-year scholarship for female students in minimum amounts of $1,000. Applicants must reside in Jefferson County, enroll as a full or part time student at any 2 or four year school for the 2019-20 school year. Deadline is March 1, 2019.
